Staple fiber technologies

Staple fiber technologies drive technology, machine, process and product development from bale to twist. In addition to the traditional clothing and mechanical engineering sectors, the DITF also conduct research into yarns and processes for technical textiles. The increasing importance of staple fiber technologies for technical textiles is reflected in current developments such as the recycling of carbon fibers into innovative textile structures.

The staple fiber technologies at the DITF have been further expanded with the construction of a technical center for long staple fibers. Guarantees of success for industry-related research are the machinery along the entire staple fiber process chain on an industrial scale and the experience of our long-standing employees.

Range of Services

  • experimental spinning in pilot spinning mill
  • short and long staple spinning process
  • processing of manmade and natural fibers, e.g. polyester, viscose, cotton, acrylic, flax, ramie or banana fibers
  • resource efficiency/recycling: recycling of fiber-based raw materials in the spinning mill, e.g. cotton or carbon fiber recycling
  • measuring tasks such as CFD, PIV, LDA, high-speed video
  • development of textile machinery components
